Safety Guidance - Candles

Trim the wick: Cut the wick to 1/4 inch before every use to prevent uneven burning or high flames.
Check placement: Keep candles at least 12 inches away from items that can catch fire like curtains, bedding, and books.
Use sturdy holders: Set candles in heavy, heat-resistant holders that will not tip over easily.
While Burning:
Stay nearby: Blow out all candles before leaving a room or going to sleep.
Avoid drafts: Keep candles away from fans, open windows, and air vents to stop the flame from flaring.
Keep clear: Keep children and pets away from burning candles.
Leave space: Keep a gap of at least 4 inches (10 cm) between multiple burning candles.
Putting Out Candles
Use a snuffer: Smother the flame with a snuffer or a metal spoon instead of blowing it hard to prevent hot wax splatters.
No water: Never pour water on a burning candle because it can break the glass or splash hot wax.
Let it cool: Wait until the candle is completely cool before you touch or move it.

Safety Guidance - Wax Melts

Placement and Environment
Surface: Place your burner on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface away from edges.
Clearance: Keep the area clear of curtains, furniture, bedding, and other flammable items.
Draughts: Use the burner in a well-ventilated room, but keep it away from draughts that can cause uneven flames or flickering.
Burning and Heating Rules
Tea lights: If using a traditional tea light burner, “Only ever use unscented tea lights as fragranced ones burn too hot.”. Stick to standard 4-hour tea lights and never use 8-hour or multiple tea lights.
Time limits: Do not burn or heat wax melts for more than 4 hours at a single time.
Capacity: Do not overfill the bowl with too many wax pieces.
Supervision: Never leave burning or hot melting equipment unattended.
Children, Pets, and Disposal
Safety zone: Keep warmers out of reach of children and pets to prevent burns or accidental ingestion.
Consumption: Wax melts are not food; seek immediate medical advice if swallowed.
Cleaning: Never pour molten wax down sinks, plug holes, or drains. Allow the wax to cool and harden completely before popping it out with gentle pressure (avoiding sharp tools).
